World CNG E450 Shuttle Bus


Overview

WorldCNG is pleased to offer the Ford E450/F550 Shuttle converted to natural gas operation using WorldCNG EPA certified natural gas conversion system, equipped with 34.8 GGE of CNG fuel. The base configuration uses two Type-4 and one Type-3 composite cylinders, which have a combined weight of 358lbs. The two Type-4 cylinders are aft mounted and hold 12.7 GGE of CNG fuel each. The third cylinder has a capacity of 9.4 GGE and is mounted inside the frame rail next to the drive shaft either street side or curbside. Alternatively, this cylinder may also be located outside the frame rail on either side of the bus when a brake retarder device is present.

Tank Configuration and Gas Mileage

This configuration is expandable up to 44.2 GGE utilizing a second 9.4 GGE Type-3 tank mounted as shown. The total weight of the 44.2 GGE configuration is 464 pounds. Both the 34.8 and 44.2 GGE configurations weigh less than a full Ford OEM 55.0 gallon gasoline tank, which weighs over 500 pounds.


No Change in Gas Mileage

WorldCNG natural gas shuttles achieve the same miles per gallon rating as the OEM gasoline vehicle. Using the OEM rating of 10 miles per gallon the range of the base configuration of this shuttle is estimated at 348 miles while the optional expanded capacity configuration’s range is estimated at 442 miles.
